Atlantic Pacific International Rescue Boat Project

Students of UWC Atlantic College in South Wales have collaborated to create a new series of RIB-boats which is specifically designed to cope with rescues in rough circumstances. The college is working hard in providing assistance in the arrival of refugees in Lesvos. In addition, it has established connection in Japan, where 5 of the students will travel to in August to help set up a new life station, that can also work in the aftermath of tsunamis.

With the legacy of innovative boat building at the college, the students of the Inshore Rescue Boat service are building boats that can be used globally to rescue people in need on the sea regardless of the situation. Students are in addition to this testing the boats, promoting the project and training in boat manouevering and lifesaving skills.

This is a collosal project to take on and we are very excited to see the results. However, the team would still benefit from the assistance of enthusiastic alumni. Any experience in boat construction and design would be valuable, but knowledge of organising and running a project, public relations or fundraising is just as vital for the project’s success.
